SciFi and Fantasy Art: Legolas, No LipstickDon't chew me out on this! It's an anime style drawing of my favourite character from JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy. I don't recall eye color, or hair color, so I just went with what I felt was right. Besides, everyone's entitled to their own interpretation of characters. The uh name of the picture is Legolas-nolipstick for a reason; it had to do with the mouth coloring which I fixed in this version.

Legolas would not be cought in THAT drape called an outfit. Are you sure you don't like girls? Be HONEST. Halah 'Nataruma' Al-Gharabally replies: "The fact that I have naughty dreams is no secret to anyone, in fact everyone has a naughty dream at least once a week by my calculations. EVERYONE. However, I don't understand that you can glean this from a perfectly innocent, if somewhat revealing, drawing. And how would you know what Legolas would be caught in? You're his solicitor perhaps? Sister? Brother? No? Of course not, because *GASP* Legolas isn't real! Oh I hope I didn't burst your bubble too much there. And I DO like girls, they're lovely creatures, they're just as nice as boys. I have no shame admitting that, why should I? But the fact remains that Legolas is Legolas and no one would know WHAT he wears or not because he's a fictional entity without a mind of its own to think with. Now, if you don't mind, I will get back to drawing androgynous men, *scribble draw scratch scribble*."
| 9 Apr 2003 | Amm | This won't be long!!! I love the boots and hair!!! There! I'm done talking! BYE!!! Halah 'Nataruma' Al-Gharabally replies: "Wow! That's the longest comment I ever got! Thanks a million for your support and appreciation of my art! I'm so happy my outfit inspired someone *sniffle*." | |
| 9 Apr 2003 | Amm | Yeah, me again. But this won't be as long as my last one, I promice.(spell check? oh well, i can't spell.)^-^ First of all, I agree with you on the comment back at: Van G, Morwaie, Anonymous(Feb.19,Mar.13), and that Veronica artist person. Secondly, I am also a fan girl over Legolas, but I'm not INSANE!!! Thirdly, I *love* the hair, and outfit. Fourth thing, this pic inspired the outfit of this one character I will put in the story I'm working on. She's also an androgenous girl who is a warrior princess on a planet that I forgot the name of (c'mon, I don't have the memory of an elephant!); her name is Ramira. She has a love of fencing, and basicly, any combat sport or activity, cries only once in the story (only because one of her companions is killed) (and that does not include stuff like onion fumes or pepper spray), and is depicted as a masculan girl with a short temper, but is a good friend to the rest of her companions. And no, she is not the main character. So, in conclusion, I *love* this picture, not because of it's of Legolas, but because it is creative, and androgenously unique. Keep up the great anime drawings! (Yes, I am crazy about fantasy. And yes, I know I'm a chatterbox, but I love to talk!)^-^ | |
| 9 Apr 2003 | Amm | I was Arien when I last commented, so, yeah. Um, sorry about that last time I commented, I was a bit CRAZY at that moment, but now, I've gotten SOMEBODY!!!... (*glares at Aniel, who is chained to a giant mithril brick in the chambers of my subconcious mind*)... under control.
I *so* agree with your comment to that "Van G" guy! And actually, there ( in The Fellowship of the Ring) was only a brief discription of Legolas, and no Van G, it said NOTHING in that discription about Legolas being all buff and muscular, though *I* think he was strong in emotions,(like how he didn't cry when Gandalf fell into shadow) spirit, and strength( but not big and buff!!!!).
Besides, look at Frida Kahlo. She refused to pluck out her heavy eyebrows and lip hairs, but so what?! She wasn't afraid to stand out in a crowd. I admire her for that.
I agree; there is NOTHING(!!!) wrong with androgenous characters. And if you wanted to depict androgenous people, you would perhaps have to draw them without any clothes on!(ew, sick thought, can't think) So I'm totally with you in your second sentence in that comment. LOVE THE DRAWING!!! (And ANIEL!!! will not be inturrupting me anymore! Yay!)^-^(jeez this comment is LONG!!!)
| 5 Jun 2003 | Silvya | Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, nice boots! Really nice boots! | |
| 5 Jun 2003 | Silvya | Why is he wearing so little...? It makes him look like a girl, especially his profile (I'm referring to his chest)...
I like his hair though, I think it's cool and it makes him look like a samurai (before they shave off their forelock and get that ugly topknot...)
| 6 Sep 2003 | Kit | Great pic, I don't think he looks like a female at all...as for the clothes...all I can think of is "yum" lol..I'm not good at leaving comments so I'll just take my leave, keep up the good work | |
| 30 Sep 2003 | Witchy Girl | Very good Halah. I really don't think Leggy loks like a girl. He does seem a bit on th Androgunus side, but that is very cool. I love how Elfquestish it is! Mostly cause that's my fave comic. Elves rock! | |
| 17 Oct 2003 | Ana Pomares | What I like most of this pic is the outfit originality. In this pic you've contributed with your own ideas to an already existing concept, and that's good ^^. He looks a bit androgynous, but I don't see anything wrong with it (in fact, most of anime/manga guys look a bit androgynous ^^) | |
| 11 Mar 2006 | Kyushu | ......Legolas? NO WAY. HOW IS THAT LEGOLAS. He is wearing girl's clothes. There is a description of what he wears and what he looks like and I never...Legolas has no ponytail... sorry im so angry. Its just that legolas is my fav. character in LOTR and and i cant stand he looks like that. Its insulting | |
